Chairperson PWWA Dr Rubinder Kaur inaugurates JKPWWA Diwali Mela


Director General of Police (DGP) J&K, Shri Dilbag Singh and Chairperson Police Wives Welfare Association (PWWA), Dr Rubinder Kaur inaugurated Diwali Mela at Police Pariwar Petrol Pump at Gandhi Nagar, Jammu here on Sunday. At the inaugural ceremony, ADGP Jammu Zone Shri Mukesh Singh, ADGP(Coord.) Shri Danesh Rana, Mrs Sarita Chouhan, Member Management Committee, J&K PWWA/PPSs and other PWWA Members Ar. Deepika Gupta, Mrs Radhika Sharma, Mrs Indu Sharma, Mrs Satvinder Kour and Mrs Anju Singh also graced the occasion.

The aim of the Mela is to showcase the items produced by police welfare centres for sale. Police welfare centres are producing different items including hand made products which are put on sale to generate resources for the welfare of police martyr families.

This year Police Welfare Centres of Jammu, Srinagar, Udhampur, Kathua, Poonch, Rajouri and Police Departmental Store, Jammu have put up their stalls. Different items put up for sale by these Centres includes various types of scented and decorative candles like votive candles, pillar candles, rose-shaped, marigold-shaped and sunflower-shaped candles, various kinds of light lamps (diyas), readymade garments, woollen kurtis, embroidered bed sheets, sweaters, napkins, thal covers, sweet box covers, saree covers, shawl bags, tea cozies, table clothes (Dastarkhan), 28-piece runners set for dining table, woollen items like baby sweaters, shawls, woollen stoles, grinded spices, dry fruits and other specialised items.
